I have PropellerHeads Reason 3.0, but am wondering if anyone knows what artist such as Infected Mushroom use to make their music?

Undoubtedly the use Ableton Live . It is also possible they used Reason AND Live. My song “Resonator” was used with Live rewired with Reason.

I’ve started listening to electronic music only recently. So far I like the Propellerheads and Amon Tobin, and I was wondering if there was anything else out there that sounded like either of them. Or anything else I have to listen to in order to gain a deeper appreciation of the genre (i.e. what are the classics of electronic music?)

[nin] is definetly one of the best electronic bands. but they have more of a rock sound/feel to them. if you like the lighter electronic music, go wit daft punk.

Question by jayozee: Electronic Music Production – Apple Logic or Propellerheads Reason/Cubase?
I am thinking of taking an Electronic Music Production course to learn how to make my own house music. I want to set-up a small home studio. Some courses are Logic based and some are PropellerHeads Reason combined with Cubase. I don’t want to spend alot of money learning the wrong software so can I have some opinions on the differences of these programs or are they as powerful as each other?. I realize I will have to buy a mac laptop to support Logic.

I prefer Reason. I like the sequencer window in Reason 4, it makes editing a cinch. The NNXT sampler is awesome. Thor is the most powerful synth I have ever used. A friend of mine has Logic, and I did not like it nearly as much, but y’know, I have been using Reason since Reason 2, so it is really comfortable for me. The vocoder is tons of fun, and the mastering suite is amazing. There are so many high quality ReFills for Reason, I have an enourmous library of sounds, samples, settings for devices, loops, etc. The effect devices all sound great, the automation lanes are easy to use and I can do literally anything I can think of. The combinator is great for combining devices, and has great pre-set sounds. The monophonic arpeggiator is also very fun to use and creates awesome lines. There are many different ways to do things in Reason, for instance on the Redrum drum machine, you could input a pattern into the step sequencer, and select ‘copy to track’ to record the data into your note lane, or you could manually enter into the note lane with the pencil tool, or you can make a bunch of patterns on the step sequencer and assign the patterns to different sections, or you could play it live, the possibilities are just endless. I use an M-Audio Axiom 61 Midi Controller, and it is perfect for Reason, you should check them out.
