Fader Groups for Propellerhead Software’s Record/Reason

Wednesday, March 28th, 2012

This is a method I’ve developed for creating a fader group in Record, thereby giving you control of multiple channels via one channel strip fader. To view the 14:2 method, go to 1:38. To view this new CV control method, go to 6:33. You can use this single channel strip fader to directly control any given number of sub channels, no limits. Get the files here: www.baumanproductions.com Look for the two files labeled “FaderGroup” – one is the Record file, and the other is detailed documentation. Some great features of this method: * There is very little you need to do to any project you’ve already recorded… no need to mess with creating new routings with your audio cables, no moving audio cables, no adjusting levels, no additional mixers created with the need to match whatever you had in Record’s mixer, etc. All you need to do is route CV cables, very simple. * The individual channel strip level LED’s will fade with the master fader group fader that you’re moving, you actually see the levels drop on the other channels as you move just that one fader (you see the LED levels drop, not the actual fader). * As you move this master fader group fader, effects will fade as well, as opposed to other methods we’ve seen before (tapping audio off the direct out jacks) where you can fade a master fader group fader but effects on the individual channels continue to feed volume to the effects, so all your reverbs and delays continue to sound, which is not desired most of the time. Reason – Complete music making and recording studioReason is an integrated software music recording and production studio with audio recording, million-dollar mixing and EQs, and all the instruments, sounds and effects you could ever dream of for writing, recording, remixing and producing great-sounding tracks.About ReasonAt the heart of Reason is the virtual rack that builds itself as you create your song. Create instruments and effects and route them any way you want to. Add, delete, replace and tweak. Your rack is what you want it to be. Need more gear? No problem. Choose a synth, a drum machine, a loop player or any device from the Create menu and it will instantly appear in your rack, logically patched into the signal chain. And because Reason is designed to go easy on your computer, you can repeat the process until you’re more than happy.A single key press will turn the Reason rack around, and there you are, in patch cord heaven. Most audio connections are made automatically. When a new device is created, it appears immediately below the currently selected device, and Reason patches it into the system in the most logical way. Repatch by dragging the patch cord plug to the desired connector to build your own sounds – or tweak the included presets. Each virtual rack unit is edited from its own on-screen front panel. All the sliders, knobs, buttons and functions are right in front of you, ready to be tweaked, turned and twisted in absolute real-time. And all your front panel actions – filter adjustments, pitch bending, gain riding or panning – can be recorded and automated in the Reason sequencer. The fully equipped mixing desk adds a big studio signal chain to all your sound sources. The Reason mixing console’s sound and signal processing was faithfully modeled after the legendary SSL 9000k analog mixing desk.

Burning propellerhead software to CD?

Tuesday, March 6th, 2012

Question by zuru-zuru: Burning propellerhead software to CD?
my brother has Propellerhead Reason on his computer, and i was wondering how I can get that off so that I can put in on my computer as well. He doesn’t have a hard copy of it so we have to burn it somehow… can i do it without having to buy some extra software like Nero? Or would I have to? thanks

Answer by blamay22000
Forget it. You cant move or burn an installed program from your pc. You would need the installer files which arent there anymore. If he downloaded and saved the installer, copy it and run in on your pc, if it came on disk, you need the disk

Propellerhead Reason 4.0 Redrum/Recording Your Drum Loops Question?

Tuesday, February 14th, 2012

Question by : Propellerhead Reason 4.0 Redrum/Recording Your Drum Loops Question?
Is it possible to record your very own (original) drum loops without having to use the step sequencer?

All I mainly want is to create my own hi-hat and kick drum loops.

Thank You.

Best answer:

Answer by Emetic Audio
Hi
The other alternative to using the step sequencer in Redrum is to use the MIDI edit function in the sequencer window.

Basically, use the pencil tool to draw however many bars you need your loop to be onto the Redrum track on your sequencer window.
Next use the arrow selection tool and double click on the bars you just drew in.
This zooms into the MIDI edit window for just the Redrum track.
Now you can use the pencil tool to draw in the drum pattern that you require allowing you easier free control over rhythm than using the step sequencer.

Hope this helps
